Resend
Developer API
Community rating
The developer-first email API with React Email.
Overview
Resend is a transactional email API built for developers, best known for React Email — authoring templates as React components — plus a clean REST API, automatic SPF/DKIM/DMARC, and webhooks. Marketing/broadcast features are newer.
Standout features
React Email
Open-source library to build templates as React components, tightest with Resend.
Developer experience
Single API key, one POST to send, sensible errors, and automatic domain auth.
Pros
- Outstanding developer experience
- React Email is genuinely useful for React teams
- Generous free tier; predictable volume pricing
Trade-offs
- Marketing/broadcast features are newer and less mature
- No visual editor for non-developers
- Not a full lifecycle marketing platform
Our verdict
Resend is the default transactional API for modern stacks. The API is clean, the docs are excellent, and React Email lets engineering teams build emails as components they already understand.
It competes with Postmark and SendGrid on transactional, not with full marketing platforms. If you need marketer-managed campaigns and automations, pair it with a marketing tool — but for code-driven sending, it is a delight.
